COVID-19 Policy Updates

According to Meredith College’s campus COVID-19 policy, masks are always permitted and even encouraged but are optional in indoor spaces on campus. Guests may choose whether or not they wish to wear a mask, and a limited supply of masks will be available at the door. No social distancing is currently in effect.

Artists, staff, and volunteers are not currently required to wear masks.

Wayfinding at Meredith College

Most of the RSO’s performances take place on the Meredith College campus. Our chamber strings events take place at Jones Chapel, while our full orchestral concerts are in Jones Auditorium.

Entering Meredith’s Campus: There are two entrances, one from Hillsborough St. and one from Faircloth St. There is a security gate at a traffic circle north of the Hillsborough St. entrance; you do not need to check in with security to attend our concerts.

The Faircloth St. entrance comes to a T-stop at East Campus Drive: turn left on East Campus Drive to reach Jones Auditorium and Main Campus Drive.

Parking: Parallel parking is available along either side of Main Campus Drive, until before the circle around the fountain. Referring to the Campus Map, visitor parking is also available in Lot 1 - adjacent to Jones Chapel, and Lot 18 - along East Campus Drive. Please be mindful of signage on parking areas. Faculty & Staff parking is available to visitors after 5pm, but accessible and student permit parking require authorization at all times.

Jones Auditorium

MC Map with Jones Auditorium Entrances

Jones Auditorium’s main entrance is accessible from the north end of Main Campus Drive, off of the circle that goes around the fountain. There is a curb-less drop off area paved by bricks that leads to a few short stairs (or a sloped walkway) into the main auditorium entrance. The Box Office is in the auditorium lobby.

The auditorium floor is carpeted and slopes downward toward the front of the stage. There is additional seating in a balcony above but this is only accessible by stairs in the lobby.

Seating is general admission (choose your own seats). Accessible seating is reserved at the ends of marked rows in the front of both main sections. In this case, accessible seating is either the open space next to the last seat, or the last seat of the row. All chairs are folding, cushioned seats with armrests. There are empty spaces towards the back of the first section reserved for wheelchairs, powerchairs, walkers, or rollators.

Accessible parking spaces in front of a two-story brick building, joined at a corner with a shorter building. Centered is a double-door nestled in the corner between the adjoining walls. A golf cart is pictured on the grass next to the doors.

Accessible parking and entrance to Jones Hall. The auditorium is located in the second story of the building on the left. The elevator is in the building to the right, through two sets of double doors.

Accessible parking for Jones Auditorium is located either across the street from the auditorium near Jones Chapel, or on East Campus drive along the lower level of Jones Hall (the building the auditorium is in). The entrance here has access to an elevator: proceed through two sets of double-doors and down a long hallway, and the elevator will be on the right. On the second floor, exit to the left, proceed through another set of double doors, and the entrance to the back of the auditorium (near the stage) will be at the end of the hall on the right.

Restrooms are located in two areas:

  • down the stairs on either side of the lobby (women’s on house-left, men’s on house-right)

  • additional women’s room: through the doors on either side of the stage from the auditorium. From the house-left door, proceed down the hallway, turn right and the restroom is on the left, near the water fountain. From the house-right door, turn left at the first opportunity and the restroom on the right, near the water fountain.

  • accessible, single-occupancy restroom (and additional men’s room): through the doors on either side of the stage from inside the auditorium (the house-right door is closer). From the house-right door, the accessible restroom is at the corner of the hallway ahead on the left. From the house-left door, walk down the hallway and turn right; there is a women’s room and a water fountain, then the accessible restroom is single occupancy on the left.

Jones Chapel

Jones Chapel’s main entrance is located on the west side of Main Campus Drive. From the Hillsborough St. entrance, proceed straight through the traffic circle at the security guardhouse, then turn left at the first opportunity into the Visitor Lot. From the Faircloth St. entrance, turn left at East Campus Drive, then either proceed straight across Main Campus Drive into the Visitor Lot, or turn left on Main Campus Drive; the chapel will be on the right. Seating in Jones Chapel consists of narrow rows of wooden pews on a flat, carpeted floor; guests may be more comfortable bringing a small cushion. Accessible seating is available at the front and rear of the room; there are limited spaces at the ends of selected pews for wheelchairs or mobility devices. The stage/altar is slightly raised above the seating area. There is additional balcony seating accessible only by stairs at the rear of the lobby.

Seating is general admission (choose your own seats).

Accessible parking and accessible entrances to Jones Chapel are available through the Visitor Lot adjacent to the building. The accessible entrances to the Chapel access the rear of the chapel; to check in at the Box Office, you will need to enter the sanctuary area of the chapel and proceed towards the Main Campus Drive entrance of the building.

Restrooms are located in the back of the Chapel building (closer to the parking lot). From inside the sanctuary, use the doors to either side of the stage/altar and proceed to the right; the restrooms will be on the left. From the building entrances accessible from the parking lot, restrooms will be on the right and the entrance to the sanctuary (performance space) will be on the left past the large clock.

A brick walkway leads to a breezeway that connects the front and rear portions of the building. A wooden bench is tucked between shrubs in the foreground, in front of the decorative brick archways over the breezeway.

A long brick pathway from the parking lot of Jones Chapel leads to an accessible entrance with an automatic door at the left that opens towards the back of the chapel (near the restrooms).
