The Raleigh Symphony Orchestra (RSO) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and encourage the understanding of music through quality performances of orchestral, jazz and chamber music; to make programs available at a reasonable cost to an increasing and diverse audience from Raleigh and surrounding communities; and to feature and provide opportunities for outstanding musicians of the area.

New, and Newest Music by American Composers – 3 p.m. Carswell Hall, Meredith College

  • Featuring some of our favorite American compositions, Fantasy Trio for violin, clarinet and piano by Richard Faith
  • Time Pieces for clarinet and piano by Robert Muczynski
  • Lullaby for violin, cello and piano by Adrienne Albert
  • Compositions of new music by emerging composers as part of our DreamMakers Project.

Meredith College Aria Concert – 8:00 p.m. Jones Auditorium, Meredith

  • Raleigh’s Symphony Orchestra will feature the winners of Meredith College’s Annual Aria Competition. Free Admission.

Classical Concert: Sunday, March 26, 2017

Rising Stars Concert – 3 p.m. Jones Auditorium, Meredith College

  • Showcasing winners of RSO’s annual statewide concerto competition
  • Come see tomorrow’s stars today!
  • Other selections will include Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture and Mozart’s Symphony No. 31, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B Minor.

Free Spirits Concert: Sunday, April 2, 2017

It’s Spring and the Family. The Free Spirits Ensemble will celebrate the season with a program of music and stories that will delight all ages. 3 p.m. Carswell Hall, Meredith College

  • World Premiere of Marga and Bear, a musical story of a young girl and her dog searching for an unknown treasure.
